On April 2nd, 2009 Cassie was notified by "The Nationl Flute Choir" (NFA - see www.nfaonline.org) that she had been chosen as one of 23 out of 600 by audition to perform as the "Professional Flute Choir" before the NFA's 37th Annual Convention in New York, August 13-16, 2009. The auditions were conducted over the past 6 months or so by a jury of peers from the NFA and to be selected is considered a great honor amoung flutists. This Choir will perform concerts in the morning and again at night at the Convention on Sunday the 16th. They will be conducted by the well-known flutist Carlo Jans (see www.carlojans.com). The Convention will also host a number of other flutists in performance competition judged by a bevy of other musicians including the well-known artist James Galway.
This honor comes on the heels of her very successful concert given as described on previous pages of this web site. Cassie is also a member of the "Nashua (NH) Flute Choir" directed by Dr. Eileen Yarisson (see www.nashuaflutechoir.com) and they have also been asked to perform during the Convention on Friday, August 14th at 7 PM. Finally, Cassie will in addition play at the Convention with "The Metropolitan Flute Orchestra from the New England Conservatory in Boston (MA)" [see www.contraflute.com/ensembles.html], directed by Paige Long. This concert will take place at 3 PM on Friday, August 14th.
